The Aquatics Advisory Board for Triangle Aquatic Center

TAC Wave

The Aquatic Advisory Board (AAB) was formed to support and advise the Triangle Aquatic Center Board of Directors on its mission to build public aquatic facilities throughout the Triangle Region. The AAB is made up of fifteen community leaders throughout the Triangle who believe in the health, safety, recreation and competition benefits of year-round public aquatic facilities and programming for children and adults. The TAC Board sincerely appreciates the members of the AAB who have given their time and interest to help make TAC and the Triangle a better community.

Terry Carlton Terry J. Carlton

Terry Carlton is a partner in the law firm of Jordan Price Wall Gray Jones & Carlton and is based in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, California and Michigan. The Firm focuses primarily upon the representation of businesses and their respective owners. The Firm provides business and estate planning services as well as representation in general civil and business litigation.

Mr. Carlton's practice focuses primarily on representation of closely-held businesses, and providing assistance in estate planning and commercial real estate transactions.

  
Steve Daniels Steve Daniels

Steve Daniels is the co-anchor of ABC11 Eyewitness News at 5:30 pm and 11:00 pm Monday-Friday. Steve also anchors ABC11 Eyewitness News at 10 pm weeknights on CW22. In addition, Steve anchors Breaking News coverage from the Breaking News Center. Steve joined ABC11 Eyewitness News in June, 1999.

Steve is also the ABC11 investigative reporter. One of his proudest moments came in December 2007, when a new state law took effect banning school bus drivers from using cell-phones while behind the wheel. Legislators took action as a direct result of Steve's investigative report "Dialing While Driving". The undercover report exposed school bus drivers using cell-phones while driving bus loads of children.

Before coming to WTVD, Steve was a correspondent for "Dateline NBC". Steve traveled the country and the world interviewing newsmakers and reporting stories for the national newsmagazine program. Steve also appeared on the "Today" show, "NBC Nightly News", MSNBC, and CNBC. Prior to that, Steve was the weekday 5 and 5:30 pm anchor and Senior Investigative Reporter for WTVJ in Miami. While in Miami, Steve was honored with seven Emmys and several other national awards for outstanding investigative reporting. Steve also anchored the weekend news at KCNC in Denver.

Steve is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism. He lives in Cary with his wife and two children. Steve was a competitive high school swimmer in Southern California. His two children train and compete at TAC as members of RSA.

  
Terrance Gill Terrance Gill

After retiring from IBM after 40 years of service in various financial management positions, Terry is currently employed part time as a Financial Analyst and Benefits Administrator for Economy Exterminators, Inc.  He graduated from Rider University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Accounting.

Mr. Gill also served on Cardinal Gibbons High School Board of Trustees from 2000 - 2009, serving the needs of the growing school extremely well throughout his tenure. He served as Treasurer for the North Carolina Chapter of Huntington's Disease Society of America from 2000 - 2004.

Mr. Gill and his wife Barbara reside in Cary, where they raised their children, Daniel, Elizabeth, Brian and Todd. Brian was past coach at Lochmere Swim & Tennis Club, and currently coaches swimming at Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN.

  
James A. Lucas, Jr. James A. "Jim" Lucas, Jr.

Jim Lucas is managing partner of the accounting firm James A. Lucas and Company, L.L.P. He attended Garner schools for twelve years, graduating in June, 1969. He graduated from University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in December, 1973 earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Mr. Lucas passed the CPA exam in November, 1973 and joined the firm in January, 1974. In 1985 he became managing partner.

Mr. Lucas was born in Shelby, North Carolina and moved to Garner, North Carolina at the age of four. Mr. Lucas currently resides in Cary with his wife. He and his wife are members of Westwood Baptist Church of Cary.

Mr. Lucas is a member of Triangle Area Chapter of North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA) and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Chairman of Executive Committee of Crescent Financial Corporation. Vice-chairman of Board of Directors of Crescent Financial Corporation.

  
Bruce Myers Bruce Myers

Bruce Myers is currently the Managing Partner of Biaggi's Ristorante Italiano in Cary. He has enjoyed the restaurant business since starting as a dishwasher at age 14. Previously Bruce was a Regional Director for Harper's Restaurant group in Charlotte. Wanting to spend more time with his family, Bruce moved his wife, Julie and daughter, Samantha to the triangle five years ago accepting the position at Biaggi's.

Samantha has been a year round swimmer since the age of 7. Upon moving to the triangle, the need for aquatic facilities became evident very quickly. Bruce quickly became a supporter of the Triangle Aquatic Center. His daughter continues to swim year round with Raleigh Swimming Association were Bruce has served as a volunteer board member for the last four years.

  
Lee Parker Lee Parker

Lee, a graduate of UNC - Chapel Hill, began his career in 1985 as a financial consultant with Wheat First Securities. In 1998 Lee joined the Reynolds Investment Group and moved his practice to Triangle Securities in September 2000.

As a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor TM, Lee assist individuals, families and business owners with investment management, retirement plan programs, evaluation of financial security and estate planning strategies. Lee has over 20 years experience creating customized portfolio solutions and is series 7, 63, and 65 licensed.

Active in the community, Lee coaches the youth groups at Salvation Army, is a fundraiser for the local YMCA, and is a regular volunteer at Shepherd's Table soup kitchen. Lee enjoys international travel, competitive swimming, tennis, golf, and participating in triathlons. Spending quality time with his wife, Lisa, and two children, Lee and Harris is a top priority. Lee and his family are members of Christ Episcopal Church.

  
Craig Rubendall Craig Rubendall

Craig Rubendall is originally from Pennsylvania, where he lived until he graduated from Penn State University. After brief stints in Connecticut and New York, Craig landed in Cary and has not looked back. Craig is a Senior Director in Research and Development at SAS Institute, Inc., the leader in Business Analytics Software, where he has worked since moving to Cary in 1993.

Athletics has always played a significant part of Craig's life, having played several sports in high school (baseball, basketball, track), college (basketball) and recreationally (soccer, swimming). Craig has coached both at the high school level (basketball, track) and at the recreational level (soccer). Mr. Rubendall enjoys anything to do with water, including boating (on his boat the Nautiny Lion), the beach and swimming.

Craig has 2 daughters, Paige and Brooke, that train at TAC and swim for New Wave Swim Team, for whom Craig is an active volunteer.

  
Greg Sanchez Greg Sanchez

Greg Sanchez, President and Owner since 1994 of Tri Properties, a Triangle-based leading commercial real estate firm offering leasing, brokerage, property management and development services, joined the Triangle Aquatics Board in the Spring of 2008. As one of the few accomplished in every discipline of commercial real estate Greg is recognized as an entrepreneur and a well-known respected leader in the marketplace, winning numerous awards including the prestigious "Pillar Award" of lifetime excellence from the Triangle Business Journal and the "Impact Award" from Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women.

Greg is a US Triathlon Age Group All-American and was recently inducted into the Cary High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. He swam competitively at UNC-Chapel Hill and still is an active athlete participating in local and international triathlons such as the 1996 Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.

Greg has received many personal awards, but takes greater pride in the success of his company and supporting the community, which is demonstrated through his involvement and generous annual non-profit contributions. Greg serves on the UNC-Chapel Hill Educational Foundation Board of Advisors, Capital Bank Cary Advisory Board, Morrisville Chamber of Commerce Board, and UNC Kenan Flagler Business School Real Estate Advisory Board. Greg received a B.S. in Industrial Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and actively supports his alma mater by endowing multiple swimming scholarships, two memorial swimming scholarships in memory of former teammates.

  
Skip Stam Skip Stam

For 32 years Mr. Stam has lived and worked in Apex, helping thousands of families negotiate the paperwork in order to purchase or refinance a home (about 4,000 closings), plan and settle estates and solve problems, while representing my neighbors in the legislature, the courts and at city hall.

He is married to Dottie Mills Stam, Music Director of Apex Baptist. We have two children, Nathan and Jana. Nathan is a graduate of NC State and Southeastern Seminary and is Minister of Children at Apex Baptist. He and wife Kristi have two sons, Aidan and Gavin. Jana is a graduate of UNC-CH. She and her husband Jimmy Estes live in Apex with their two sons, William and Daniel.

  
Alisa Wright Colopy Alisa Wright Colopy, MA, MPH

Alisa is a community volunteer in the health and fitness arena with a long professional career in public health, academia and coaching. Over the course of the past 12 years, she has worked with the several Cary organizations including the Triangle Aquatics Center, the Cary Family YMCA, Cary Academy, AARP of North Carolina, Lochmere Swim & Tennis, the Cary Chamber and the Cary Community Foundation. She has a passion for fitness and health that is evident in every aspect of her life and one that keeps her involved in the community.

Fit & Able Productions, Inc, a nonprofit company started by Alisa celebrates 10 years of community service this year. Fit & Able provides her community many event and training programs designed to get people of all ages and skill levels moving. ÊAll Fit & Able events are inclusive events where physically and mentally challenged athletes have the same opportunities and starting line as everyone else.
