Two of the very best local year-round USA Swimming swim teams swim at Triangle Aquatic Center (TAC) and generously contribute to the needs of our local swimming community. Cardinal Gibbons was founded in 1909 as a private Roman Catholic high school administered by the Franciscan brothers of Brooklyn. The most recent facility was built in 1999 on a 36-acre campus opposite the RBC Center at 1401 Edwards Mill Road in Raleigh. The high school educates approximately 800 students and sponsors a very competitive high school swim team. The Cardinal Gibbons girls' swim team has won the North Carolina Independent Schools Championship for the last four consecutive years and the boys swim team captured the championship for the first time last year.
