The I Swim For… Campaign was developed to help keep pace with the Triangle’s growing population in pursuit of the Triangle Aquatic Center’s mission. The campaign is focused on broadening our programs throughout the Triangle community and expanding the current TAC facility.
To carry out this very important mission, participation from our TAC Patrons and the Triangle Swim Community is essential to help make these goals a reality. That is where the I Swim For… Campaign comes in. I Swim For… is predicated on a very simple premise, each supporter giving $5.00 per month, debited from your credit or debit card, and that’s it.
The key to the success of the program is the fact that this dollar amount would allow and encourage all to participate. So instead of a select few getting asked all the time, we want all of you to participate, and equally important, ask your family members and friends to do the same. This expansion will benefit every TAC patron and we know the importance of TAC in your family’s lives. To be able to participate at such a reasonable level makes this choice an easy one for you.
The Triangle Aquatic Center (TAC) is a 501 (c)(3) Non-Profit Organization serving the Triangle Area since 2007. Our mission is to build and operate public aquatic facilities for the health, safety, recreation and competition needs of Triangle citizens and aquatic organizations.
TAC’s first aquatic facility, a 72,000-square foot multi-pool aquatic center opened to the public on October 28, 2007. This $22.5 million aquatic facility is the largest nonprofit public aquatic facility ever built in the country without tax funding or subsidies.
The Aquatic Center anchors the 24-acre Michael G. Curran Family Foundation aquatic campus and hosts more aquatic events than any other aquatic facility in the state. When TAC opened in 2007, it was the first 50-Meter aquatic center built in the Triangle in the last fifteen years. Wake County’s population had grown by 80% during that time and Wake County has grown by another 30% to over 1,000,000 people since TAC opened in 2007. TAC’s primary aquatic facility is now at capacity. No new 50-meter public aquatic facilities have been added in Wake County since our 2007 opening and yet the population of the Triangle and the need for aquatic space continues to grow.
TAC has implemented an ambitious expansion plan that begins construction in 2018. The expansion includes the following additions to the TAC campus:
A brand new 50m Outdoor Program and Recreational Pool with a spacious deck area
A brand new 12,000 SF high performance fitness facility that will incorporate strength, conditioning and wellness training and complement our aquatic facility
An expanded Spectator Gallery overlooking our Competition Pool that will add a new open Atrium area and corrected viewing angles on our spectator seating
New administrative areas for both the Triangle Aquatic Center and the TAC TITANS
