Learn-to-Swim
The TITANS Aquatic Programs: Learn-to-Swim is all about instilling safety and confidence in you or your swimmer! TAC is dedicated to help everyone learn how to swim, so lessons are offered for everyone ages 6 months old to 100 years old! Click on the programs below to learn more!
Tiny Titans
Ages: 6 months to 3 years old
Location: Instructional Pool
Semi-Annual Registration Fee: $15 – good for all individual lessons purchased for six months
$26 per class or a package of four lessons for $85 – sign up for what days and times work best for your schedule!
This class focuses on teaching both you and your swimmer the necessary skills to be safe and confident in the water. While introducing your little swimmer to the water, you’ll learn how to practice crucial skills that you can practice in the bath tub or your own pool! Once your swimmer is comfortable in the water, we introduce basic swimming and safety skills while focusing on developing confidence in the water. Final goals include developing confidence and a strong skill set to help swimmers smoothly transition into safe and independent swimming.
Titans 1
Ages: 3-6 years old
Location: Instructional Pool
Annual Registration Fee: $45 – good for all lesson packages purchased at any level for the entire year
Six-Lesson Package: $149
Single-Lesson Pass: $26
After your swimmer has successfully passed all of our learn-to-swim levels, they’ll be guaranteed to be able to know about water safety, know how to float independently, and be able to confidently and independently swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke. Titans 2 has three stations:
- Station A focuses on safety and introduces freestyle and backstroke
- Station B focuses on technique and endurance
- Station C is where we put skills together and focus on correct arm and leg movement, proper breathing techniques and prepare for learn-to-swim graduation. Swimmers completing Titans 1C will then advance to Titans 2C to complete a clinic in the Program Pool to graduate.
Titans 2
Ages: 7 to 12 years old
Location: Instructional Pool
Annual Registration Fee: $45 – good for all lesson packages purchased at any level for the entire year
Six-Lesson Package: $149
Single-Lesson Pass: $26
After your swimmer has successfully passed all of our learn-to-swim levels, they’ll be guaranteed to be able to know about water safety, know how to float independently, and be able to confidently and independently swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke. Titans 2 has three stations:

- Station B focuses on technique and endurance
- Station C is the graduation level of Learn to Swim. Skills are put together with focus on correct arm and leg movement, proper breathing techniques. Completion of Titans 2C requires a clinic session in the Program Pool.
Amateur Titans
Ages: 13 years old and older
Location: Program Pool
Semi-Annual Registration Fee: $15 – good for all individual lessons purchased for six months
$26 per class or a package of four lessons for $85 – sign up for what days and times work best for your schedule!
It’s never too late to learn how to swim! These classes focus on the basics of swimming so you can become more confident and comfortable in the water. Instructors will work with you through fundamental skills such as body position/alignment, kicking, freestyle, and backstroke to help you reach your goals of being confident in the water.
- Beginner
- This group is ideal for teenagers and adults that haven’t had any swimming experience previously and need to learn basic skills. This class will be held in the Instructional Pool.
- Skills that you’ll learn include:
- Submerging and blowing bubbles properly
- Front and back float
- Freestyle kick and freestyle stroke
- Proper lateral breathing.
- Intermediate
- Focuses on technique and endurance
- Fit
- Focuses on introductory breaststroke, butterfly kick, open turns, and continue practicing freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers can enroll in Titans Fit if they do not wish to join a competitive swim team, or if they are wait-listed for the team.
Titans Swim School
Ages: 6 years old and older
Location: Instructional Pool

This group is for those swimmers who have graduated from Titans 2C or those who have been evaluated and approved for registration.
Titans Swim School is where swimmers can go to improve their skills prior to Titans Pre-Prep, Prep or Junior Titans. Titans Swim School will teach your swimmers introductory breaststroke, butterfly kick, open turns, and continue practicing freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers can enroll in Titans Swim School if they do not wish to join a competitive swim team, or if they do and have been wait-listed for the team.

Titans Amateur: Adult Swim Classes
TITANS Amateur: (Ages 13 and up) It’s never too late to learn to swim! These group lessons are designed for adults to gain skills and comfort in the water. Once comfortable, we begin to incorporate different strokes and technique work. Whether your goals consist of simply learning how to swim or improving your technique and efficiency, our experienced instructors will help you reach your goals!
- Beginners – This group is ideal for teenagers and adults that haven’t had any previous swimming experience and need to learn basic skills
- Intermediate – This group instruction is in the Program Pool. Swimmers join Intermediate when they’ve learned blow bubbles, do front and back float, swim freestyle and do backstroke kick
- Fit – Advanced teens and adults join fit having achieved proper freestyle and backstroke techniques. Focus here is on correct butterfly kick and pull, proper butterfly timing and technique, Proper dive entry, Breaststroke, pull and kick, improving underwaters, etc. Fit also will introduce dry-side training including proper stretching warmup, aquatic preparation fitness and more.
Adult Masters
TITANS Masters is a big hit! We’re the only Masters team in the marketing to offer high quality professional coaching from a dedicated staff and technique instruction for swimmers 18 and older. Masters swimming is great for all athletes:
- Athletes who want to continue to swim at a high level
- Athletes from other sports who wish to cross-train aquatically
- Athletes looking for a great group to socialize with!
Practices are held daily during the week, both in the morning and at lunch.

Triangle Aquatic Center offers private and semi-private (2 people) lessons for those who are interested in one-on-one instruction, need more flexibility with scheduling on a lesson-by-lesson basis, or have a specific area of interest.

Lifeguard Full Certification
Course Cost: $315
Course Length: 2.5 days plus online portion
Lifeguard Re-Certification
Course Cost: $185
Course Length: 1 day plus online portion
*all participants needing a recertification are able to join the full certification classes for the cost of a recertification
CPR/First Aid/AED For the Professional Rescuer
Course Cost: $90
Course Length: roughly 2 hours plus online portion
This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies
involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. This is a blended learning course
including an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. Upon successful completion of this course you
will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.
Classes are $90 for the general public, and $60 for Wake County Educators and Coaches. Participants must be 14 years old
or older. Each participant is required to finish the online course and print out a completion record prior to the start
of the class. A link to the online portion can be found in the details section in the registration module.
Water Safety Instructor
Course Cost: $315
Course Length: 3 days plus online portion
The purpose of the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach courses
and presentations in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program by developing their understanding of how
to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants’ progress.
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the Water Safety Instructor course, instructor candidates should be able to:
- Identify key elements and strategies for planning and preparing effective and safe swim lessons
- Identify key class management principles, elements and strategies for planning, preparing, and conducting safe
swim lessons
- Identify key class management principles, elements and strategies for planning, preparing, and conducting safe
- Describe the importance of effective observation for teaching and how to develop it
- Observe swimming, headfirst entry and diving skills, and accurately classify them and suggest appropriate
interventions to improve them
- Observe swimming, headfirst entry and diving skills, and accurately classify them and suggest appropriate
- Develop the ability to effectively communicate about participants’ progress in swim lessons
- Modify teaching to meet unexpected challenges, including dealing with participants who misbehave
- Demonstrate the ability to accommodate participants who move, learn, communicate, and behave differently
Prerequisites:
- Be at least 16 years of age on or before the final scheduled lesson of this course
- Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills:
- Swim the following strokes consistent with Level 4 of American Red Cross Swimming skills:
- Front crawl-25 yards
- Back crawl-25 yards
- Breaststroke-25 yards
- Elementary backstroke- 25 yards
- Sidestroke-25 yards
- Butterfly- 15 yards
- Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling)
- Tread water for 1 minute
Lifeguard Instructor
Course Cost: $315
Course Length: 2.5 days
The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the
American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Lifeguarding Blended Learning, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Water Park Skills, CPR/AED
for the Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers, Administering Emergency Oxygen and Bloodborne Pathogens
Training courses and/or modules.
Course Prerequisites:
- Be at least 17 years of age.
- Possess a current basic-level American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Successfully complete the online session for the Lifeguarding Instructor course, which consists of the
following:
- Successfully complete the online session for the Lifeguarding Instructor course, which consists of the
- Orientation to the American Red Cross
- Orientation to the Lifeguarding Instructor Course and Precourse Exam
- Successfully complete the Precourse Session
- Obtain the Lifeguarding Instructor’s Manual and Lifeguarding Manual after you have successfully completed the
Precourse Session.

Criteria for certification:
- Successfully complete the online Introduction to the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor course
- Successfully complete the Precourse Skills Session
- Attend and actively participate in all course sessions
- Successfully complete class activities, including the four practice-teaching assignments
- Demonstrate instructor-level skill competency in all skills and scenarios
- Score a minimum of 80 percent on the instructor course final written exam
