Derek Wall serves as the Executive Director of the Triangle Aquatic Center (TAC), bringing a unique blend of entrepreneurial expertise and deep-rooted passion for the aquatics community. Derek’s history with TAC dates back to its foundational years; he previously served as the Operations Director and was instrumental in the launch and development of the TAC TITANS USA Swimming team program.

Prior to re-joining TAC in the fourth quarter of 2022, Derek spent a decade building a successful local pool management and staffing company. After the acquisition of his firm, he returned to TAC to oversee the business operations and strategic growth of both the facility and the TITANS program.

Beyond his executive leadership, Derek is a “certified student” of high performance. An avid triathlete who continues to set personal bests into his 40s, he has a firsthand understanding of the physical and mental demands of competitive sports. This perspective is further sharpened at home; Derek lives in Cary with his wife, Ashley Twichell – a multi-time World Champion and Olympic open-water swimmer – and their two young children.

Derek is a graduate of Campbell University with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing. He is dedicated to fostering an environment where every athlete, coach, and staff member can pursue excellence. Whether he is drafting strategic reports or cheering on the pool deck, Derek remains committed to ensuring TAC remains a premier destination for lifelong athletic success.
