Support Swimming Across North Carolina
Show your support for North Carolina’s swimming community with a specialty license plate that expands access to the sport through Opportunity Scholarships.
A Plate for All NC Swimmers
This plate was created to represent North Carolina’s full swimming community. The artwork brings together three familiar North Carolina settings, a mountain lake, the coast, and a pool deck, all forming the edges of one shared body of water.
From Mountains to Coast
Swimming connects people across all regions of NC.
Water Is Everywhere
Pools, lakes, rivers, sounds, and the Atlantic make swimming part of life across the state.
Built for Swimming
NC is home to major aquatic facilities, competitive programs, and nationally recognized events.
Swimming at Every Level
From learn-to-swim through elite competition, there’s a place for every swimmer.
Be One of the First 500
North Carolina requires 500 paid applications for a new full-background specialty plate. Be one of the first 500 to commit, and Triangle Aquatic Center will cover your first-year specialty plate fee!
How it works:
- Commit: Complete the form to select the NC Swimming specialty plate for your vehicle once it becomes available.
- We cover the fee: TAC pays the first-year specialty plate fee ($30) for the first 500 applicants. Annual vehicle registration fees still apply.
- Personalize it, if you want: Personalization is optional and costs an additional $30.
- Get your plate: After the required applications are secured and the plate receives legislative approval, it will be produced. Plates will not be issued until 2027. We’ll share pickup or delivery details once finalized.
You’ll be among the first to put the plate on the road and proudly show that you’re part of North Carolina’s swimming community!
Why get an NC Swimming specialty plate?
Aside from the plate looking great on your car or truck, proceeds support Opportunity Scholarships that help make competitive swimming more accessible to North Carolina families facing financial barriers.
Administered by Triangle Aquatic Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, these scholarships help offset the cost of participation, so more swimmers have the opportunity to train, compete, and stay involved in the sport.
Every commitment brings North Carolina one step closer to having a specialty plate dedicated to swimmers.
